I make utilitarian ceramic vessels. It is important to me that each piece is unique and well crafted, but doesn’t lose vitality in the pursuit of precision. I primarily build with stoneware and porcelain clay. I fire to a variety of temperatures and atmospheres including oxidation, reduction, soda, and wood. The pieces are constructed using various combinations of hand building, wheel throwing, extruding, and press molds. The surfaces combine mixtures of layers that include terra sigillata, slip, underglaze, and glaze.
